Well, just because it is homemade, it is not healthier than the store bought one. But at least there is no flavour enchaner, sugar and who knows what else in it. And it is definetely not made of pressed potato powder. I haven't had potato chips for years, either homemade or not. The oven dried carrot doesn't count, after all it is not potato and it is healthy. ;) I think sometimes it is okay to have such a treat, especially when watching a movie at home with friends.
Ingredients:
5 larga potatoes
peanut oil for frying
salt
After peeling the potatoes, or you can even prepare them with the skin, slice very thin with a help of a mandoline. Put the slices in cold water for about 5 minutes. Drain them and dry very well. Heat peanut oil, but be careful and do not let the temperature raise above 180-190°C. Fry 8-10 slices at once while moving them with a help of a flat, slotted spoon. When ready, drain them and season with salt or any spice mixture you like. The chips can be prepared 2 days in advance, just keep it in an airthight container.
