Chocolate&Vanilla Ice Cream Cake

Yesterday it was my dad's birthday and as he is a fan of my ice cream, I decided to prepare an ice cream cake for him. His all time favourite flavours are chocolate and vanilla. The recpie for the vanilla ice cream you find here, for the chocolate here. For the bottom of the cake I baked the macaroon from Pierre Hermé`s Snowflake.

It was a lot of fun playing with the caramel for the decoration!

As first I baked the bottom, I was afraid, that it is going to much too frozen and I am not going to be able to slice the cake. However surprisingly this was no problem at all. After I made the vanilla ice cream and let the whole thing freeze for 3 hours. When the choclate ice cream was made I froze it for another 3 hours. I let it stand on room temperature for about 15 minutes before serving.
